About the project

River Park – Japandi is the second interior design concept for the River Park residential complex in Blagoevgrad. The previous River Park project reinterpreted luxury through softness and light. This version draws on the balanced and functional aesthetics of Japandi style. It combines Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian simplicity.

The goal was to create an interior concept applicable across all apartments, while offering a distinct mood that feels natural, warm, and elegant.

Design approach

The client brief called for an interpretation of Japandi aesthetics. Therefore, we focused on its core principles: minimalism, functionality, and a connection to nature. We then translated these ideas into a practical and livable residential environment.

At the same time, we highlighted simple forms, balanced proportions, and rich natural textures. As a result, each design decision responds to everyday use and real-life needs.

We aimed to preserve a sense of natural imperfection, characteristic of Japanese design, while also combining it with Scandinavian practicality, durability, and ease of maintenance. We designed the space to feel warm, light, and timeless, without requiring excessive care or compromising everyday comfort.

Functional Strategy

Functionality remained a key priority. In addition, the design had to feel aesthetically pleasing, ergonomic, and adaptable to real needs. To achieve this, we maximized the potential of the space by creating an environment that supports and simplifies daily life.

How we did it

To create a Japandi interior atmosphere for the project in Blagoevgrad, we combined natural materials, earthy tones, and soft neutral colors. The base of the design includes Chevron-patterned hardwood floors, Ceppo di Gré , and brown Castella oak . Walls finished with decorative plaster, soft rounded furniture, and bouclé upholstery enhance the sense of comfort, tactility, and balance. Wooden and textile wall claddings, abstract artworks, subtle wallpapers, and minimal decorative accents complete the space. Brass details introduce a quiet sophistication and connect the concept to the wider identity of the River Park project, while subtly enhancing the Japanese aesthetic through contemporary interior solutions.
