About the project
Lotus – Lobby is part of a larger residential development in Blagoevgrad, designed as a complement to the building’s premium apartments. The project was developed for a real estate client rather than a single owner, with the goal of creating a strong first impression for prospective buyers and visitors.
The client’s vision was to establish a visual and spatial connection between the exterior architecture and the interior experience. This meant creating a lobby that naturally extends the building’s exterior design language — forming a smooth transition between the outdoor environment and the inner spaces.
While the apartment interiors were designed to invoke a feeling of elegance, the lobby had to represent that same sophistication in a more accessible and functional way. It serves as the building’s introduction — both practical and expressive — setting the tone for what lies beyond.
Design approach
The concept for the lobby was inspired by the curved architectural lines of the building’s exterior. Our goal was to reinterpret these flowing shapes within the interior, creating continuity through form and atmosphere.
We focused on achieving balance — soft, bright walls and ceilings combined with deep walnut decor to establish contrast and depth. The curved angles within the spaceand the ceiling, were designed to guide movement intuitively while adding a sense of sculptural refinement.
The wall designated for the building’s logo became a focal point of our efforts framed by dark walnut paneling and accent lighting to emphasize identity and create a welcoming gesture for all who enter.
Functional Strategy
The lobby’s design had to be visually impressive yet simple enough for straightforward execution. As this space would be built and used daily by residents and guests, our functional goals centered on durability, comfort, and clarity of movement.
How we did it
The finished design captures the minimal luxury atmosphere through clean geometry, warm materials, and soft transitions. The curved ceiling defines the space, echoing the architectural language of the building and adding a sense of movement. Glossy marble tiles reflect light and expand the space visually, while matte walnut paneling grounds the composition and introduces warmth. Subtle brass details and minimal abstract artwork bring refinement without distraction.
The interplay of textures — from smooth plastered walls to polished surfaces — gives the lobby its distinct character. The result is a welcoming space that feels both sophisticated and approachable, perfectly aligned with the building’s modern identity and its promise of elegant living.
