About the project
River Park is a distinctive project that involved designing interiors for an apartment building in development.
This required creating a concept that could be implemented across every flat in the complex. The interiors needed to be flexible enough to adapt to each resident’s preferences, while also allowing the design to be executed repeatedly with uniform quality.
One of the main design goals guiding our work was to develop a modular interior system. This approach enables residents to change colors, materials, or decorative elements without affecting the overall style and atmosphere of the apartment. We aimed to establish a clear design vision that creates a unified identity across all apartments and reflects the style of the building.
We developed two different stylistic approaches for the River Park apartments.
Although the styles vary considerably, they are connected by a shared sense of warmth and brightness.
Design approach
We challenged the conventions of the luxury style by blending its typical glossy opulence and neoclassical elements with light, warm tones and materials. The goal was to soften the heavy impact of the usual ornamented excess, and to create an overall feeling of comfort. We set out to keep the premium feel and quality, while removing everything unnecessary.
Functional Strategy
The design needed to be as broadly applicable as possible, and work as a 'complete package' for each
resident. The apartments would have to be designed so that they are ready to welcome their new
owners right away, with minimal adjustments.
As with every interior, we aimed for an allocation of space which is comfortable, ergonomic, and intuitive
to inhabit and use. We strived to make optimal use of the space, to consider typical scenarios, and to
create an interior which makes everyday life easier.
How we did it
We set out to achieve our goal of combining the luxury aesthetic with lightness and warmth, by creating
a classical foundation and adding modern touches.
The hardwood floors laid in a chevron pattern, the walls and wall mouldings, along with the marble tiling,
create a timeless, classic feel. This is balanced with modern furniture, and classy brass accents that
make for a premium impression.
The addition of wooden materials and brown-beige colour pallette brings warmth and comfort. The
colourful paintings, carpets and wallpapers complement the cozy, soulful feeling and complete the
fusion.
